Canadian Snooker Academy Coach wins Ontario Qualifier!
Congratulations to our Coach Jon Wallace who won the Ontario Billiards & Snooker Association (OBSA) #5 Provincial Qualifier this weekend at Steel City Billiards in Hamilton, ON. Held over two days, Jon won 3 best-of-5 frame matches on Saturday, before returning on Sunday to first win a hard fought nail-biting semi final against Demos Zachariou, emerging as a 3-2 winner after a nervy final frame decider. In the final he met Levi Meiller – immediately Levi set out with a break of 36, to which Jon instantly countered with a break of 43, and managed to hold onto a slender lead to win the first frame on the pink ball. The second frame also went Jon’s way after another well battled frame between the two, finally ending with Jon slotting home a long pink to secure frame 2. Levi immediately hit back in frame three with a very nice 46 to start his comeback. 2-1 at this point. The fourth frame looked to be going Levi’s way as well after a positional mistake by Jon left himself snookered on the final red resulting in an eventual forfeit of 13 points as he tried to get out of the hook. Trailing by 18 points at this point, Jon managed to knock in a long final red, and then go on to run out the table with a nicely controlled break of 31 to win the frame, match and Tournament!! A great Tournament – thanks to our Hosts, Steel City Billiards in Hamilton for their hospitality. On to the next one in 3 weeks!!
